Hidden Sling in Black Dress

Little Black Dress

One of my favourite black dresses was also one of my most unsure Etsy purchases. I ordered this dress out of my favourite vintage shop gogovintage knowing that it was on the large size, but I love how a lot of vintage dresses tend to have full skirts so you can easily belt them! Even with belting this dress it creates a lovely poof on the skirts so it doesn’t just bunch up all tight and ill-fitting. It’s a very comfy dress with slightly sheer arms but it’s lined with a black slip so that nothing in see though. What’s great is it can be both creepy and fun depending on how I wear it. I wore it for Halloween all buttoned up!

My velvet slippers I can’t remember where I got them from, but they are so comfy and great for a bum knee day because they can dress up an outfit without straining my kneecap. Also, they have duel straps so they keep my foot firmly in place rather than wearing a simple slip on flat that my foot tends to slip out of causing a misstep. NO ACCIDENTAL FALLING FOR ME, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

I bet you barely noticed I snuck in my arm brace too huh? The black on black really disguise my arm brace and I was able to look classy in a French restaurant without drawing attention to my arm. One of the big problems with slings is that you can’t wear a jacket in the winter timer without having to take the sling off and apply it to the outside of your coat constantly, but with a cape jacket you can easily tuck your sling arm underneath and still peep out the front for easy access. I don’t want to feel like I’m wearing a straight jacket, after all.

So do you have a little black dress too? Mine is the more untraditional type but what is your comfy go-to dress?

  1. I just subscribed to your blog and hope you will continue posting! In this photo, you look so much like Natalie Dormer … meow, sexy kitty! Just wanted to say “hi” and let you know I very much enjoy your videos and blogs. While I do not have EDS, I have spent the past sex years battling colorectal cancer (yep, super sexy stuff) and the fallout from treatment. I am five-years cancer-free, which is epic beyond words. But the daily grind of dealing with all the ick and ickiness can be exhausting. So … I’m with you, sister … major support and love comin’ atcha from Santa Monica, California.
